KNIGHT Digital Saddle Stitching Line is a saddle stitching solution specially developed for digital single-sheet printing. It integrates sheet feeding, creasing, folding, gathering, cover feeding, stitching, and three-knife trimming processes.

By simplifying the production workflow and improving production efficiency, the line can produce up to 4,000 books per hour. With a high level of automation and easy operation, it is the ideal choice for producing high-quality saddle stitched books in digital printing applications.

Single Sheet Feeding System (Sheet Feeding, Creasing, Folding & Gathering)

• Equipped with a color touchscreen, which allows program parameter input, equipment control, and fault alarms. The number of sheets per booklet can be set directly through the touchscreen.
• The folding and feeding unit is designed to meet the folding requirements of various paper weights used in digital printing.
• Equipped with front air blowing, side air blowing, and wide suction rollers to achieve effective sheet separation and stable paper feeding.
• Ultrasonic sensors detect double sheets and missing sheets. Parameter adjustments can be completed without stopping the machine.
• Black mark detection sequence control accurately identifies each booklet, ensuring precise sheet counting and completely eliminating problems such as duplicate sheets and missing sheets caused by upstream printing processes.
• The sheet feeding platform features mature and stable technology with automatic skew correction, ensuring smooth and reliable sheet feeding. (Nearly one hundred installed machines have been successfully delivered.)
• Supports mixed gathering of different types of paper and paper weights.

Cover Feeding System

• The cover feeding system is equipped with an independent high-quality cover creasing unit, suitable for thick covers and preventing cover cracking.
• Folding is completed during cover feeding, ensuring accurate matching between the cover and the book block.
• Equipped with missing sheet detection and double-sheet detection functions.

Thickness Measuring System

• The total thickness of each book is measured before stitching to prevent books with loose or missing pages caused during transportation from being mistakenly identified as qualified products. Only books that pass the thickness measurement are delivered to the stitching station for stitching, while unqualified books are automatically rejected at the rejection station.

Stitching System

• The stitching heads continuously swing during machine operation and support adjustable stitching and non-stitching control.
• An additional set of stitching heads can be installed to achieve double-up book production.
• After stitching, a photoelectric detection system checks the number of stitches. Qualified books are transferred to the three-knife trimmer, while defective products are rejected.

Three-Knife Trimming System

• Supports single-book trimming only.
• An optional center knife can be installed to separate double-up books during simultaneous trimming.
• Three-knife trimming gauge adjustment is fast and convenient.
